New Delhi: India is set to achieve 4G connectivity in every village by June 2026, promising high-speed internet and improved call services across rural areas. The announcement was made by Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia during an event in Shivpuri, Madhya Pradesh.
Speaking at the inauguration of a sub-post office in Badrwas, Guna district, Scindia highlighted that this initiative will strengthen the Digital India mission and enhance connectivity for rural residents.
Government Initiatives for Rural Empowerment
The Union Minister also announced that India Post has signed two agreements with the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare aimed at empowering rural women and farmers economically. One agreement focuses on real-time monitoring of fertilizer distribution, ensuring transparency and efficiency. The second agreement targets financial empowerment of women in villages. These agreements were signed in New Delhi on January 7 in the presence of Scindia and Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
Impact on Rural Communities
With more than 1.2 billion mobile users in India, the expansion of 4G network will enable villagers to access high-speed internet, make seamless calls, and avail digital services offered by the government. Scindia urged citizens to open bank accounts at local post offices to take full advantage of government schemes.
This nationwide rollout of 4G is expected to accelerate rural development, improve digital literacy, and boost economic opportunities across India’s villages.
