Elon Musk’s satellite internet venture Starlink has officially entered the Indian market. The company has announced its residential plans and activated a dedicated India website, offering consumers a 30-day free trial to experience high-speed satellite internet for the first time.
Residential Plan: ₹8,600 Per Month With Free Trial
According to the Starlink India website, the monthly subscription fee for the Residential Plan has been fixed at ₹8,600, valid for 30 days.
New users will also receive a 30-day free trial, and if they are not satisfied, the company promises a full refund.
The service is expected to bridge the connectivity gap in regions where mobile networks and broadband services are still unreliable or unavailable.
Hardware Kit Priced at ₹36,000
To activate the service at home, users must purchase the Starlink hardware kit.
- One-time cost: ₹36,000
- Includes: Dish antenna, Wi-Fi router, power cables
After installation, the system is plug-and-play, allowing users to start internet access immediately without technical complications.
Unlimited Data and 99.9% Uptime
Starlink’s India page confirms that the ₹8,600 plan will offer:
- Unlimited data
- 99.9% uptime
- High-speed connectivity even in harsh weather conditions
This makes the service particularly appealing for rural, hilly, and remote regions where conventional broadband infrastructure is weak.
Government Approval Granted
Starlink has received all necessary approvals from the Government of India to begin operations.
While many expected a more affordable pricing model for Indian users, the subscription cost is significantly higher than traditional broadband plans—raising questions about how widely it will be adopted.
Nonetheless, the entry of Starlink marks a major technological milestone, offering the potential to revolutionize internet access across underserved regions of India.
