Retro-Style Bluetooth Landline Gains Massive Popularity; ₹1 Crore Sales in Just 3 Days**

A tech founder troubled by rising smartphone screen-time has created a unique solution that blends nostalgia with modern technology. Cat Goetze, founder of Physical Phones—popularly known online as CatGPT—has designed a landline-style phone that connects to smartphones via Bluetooth and allows users to receive calls from WhatsApp, FaceTime, Instagram, and other apps.

According to CNBC Make It, Cat got the idea nearly two years ago when she felt overwhelmed by excessive smartphone usage. Missing the simpler charm of traditional landlines, she purchased an old landline phone and upgraded it with Bluetooth compatibility. “I literally made a landline phone Bluetooth compatible,” she said, calling the idea both nostalgic and fashionable.

This modern–retro device pairs with both iPhone and Android phones. When the user receives a call on WhatsApp, FaceTime, or Instagram, the landline rings and transfers the audio directly to the handset. Cat believes the concept reflects a growing desire among people to cut down on screen-time while staying connected.

Launched online in July 2025, the product received an unexpectedly overwhelming response. Cat initially expected just 15–20 pre-orders. Instead, thousands poured in, and the product crossed ₹1 crore in sales within the first three days. By October, sales had surged past ₹2.5 crore, with over 3,000 units sold. The phones are priced between ₹8,000 and ₹9,800, and the first batch will begin shipping in December following a manufacturing partnership.

The device is proving especially useful for professionals who wish to avoid frequent smartphone distractions while working, as well as for those who want to stay connected without being glued to their screens. This blend of classic design and modern functionality has quickly turned the product into a trendsetting innovation.
