New Delhi: A shocking incident of violence unfolded in Maujpur, North-East Delhi, where a young man was shot dead inside a café. The main accused later posted a video on Instagram claiming responsibility, stating that the killing was an act of revenge. Police have registered a murder case and launched an investigation.
Details of the Incident
The victim, identified as Faizan, also known as Fazzi, 24, was a resident of Janta Mazdoor Colony in Welcome. On Friday night at 10:28 PM, the Welcome Police received reports of gunfire at the ‘Mr. King Lounge & Café’ in Maujpur. When the police arrived, Faizan was found critically injured and was immediately taken to GTB Hospital, where he was declared dead. Forensic teams were called to the scene, and a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code has been registered at Welcome Police Station. As of now, the accused remains at large and is reportedly active on Instagram.
Gunshot Injuries
Police sources said the attackers had come with the intent to kill Faizan. He was shot once in the head and twice in the chest before the perpetrators fled. Family members revealed that Faizan had lent money to the accused, who had not returned it. Additionally, Faizan had reportedly slapped the accused a few months ago. This led to a personal feud between Faizan and both the accused and his father, who had previously warned the family that Faizan’s life was in danger. Multiple attempts at reconciliation had failed.
Accused Claims Revenge
In a video posted online, the accused claimed full responsibility for the killing. He stated that he acted alone and that neither his father nor friends were involved. He emphasized that the murder was a result of personal revenge, saying, “He had slapped me; I killed him. It had nothing to do with money or anyone else.”
Family’s Grief and Appeal
Faizan’s mother appeared in a video expressing her anguish, saying that daily killings are taking place in Yamuna Pār and that the police are not taking action. She urged the authorities to arrest her son’s killer, warning that if they do not act, the family would take matters into their own hands.
Police Statement
DCP North-East, Ashish Mishra, confirmed that a report of gunfire at the café was received last night. He stated, “Faizan was shot and died at the scene. A murder case has been registered at Welcome Police Station, and the investigation is underway.”
