Youth Flees with Car on Pretext of Test Drive: Victim’s Attempt to Sell on OLX Turns Costly in Bulandshahr

Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh: Selling a car on the online platform OLX turned out to be costly for a man in Bulandshahr when a fraudster took advantage of a test drive to steal his car. Following the victim’s complaint, the police have initiated a search for the culprit based on CCTV footage.

The Incident

According to reports, the victim had posted an advertisement on OLX to sell his Swift car. A young man, claiming to be a potential buyer, contacted the seller. After negotiating, they agreed to meet in Khurja for the deal. Once they reached the designated location, the suspect requested a test drive. While the car owner was showing the car to the buyer, the fraudster took the opportunity and drove off with the vehicle under the pretext of a test drive.

Realization and Police Involvement

After waiting for a considerable amount of time, the victim realized he had been duped and immediately reported the incident to the police. CCTV footage from cameras around the location revealed the accused driving away with the car.

The police have begun efforts to identify and apprehend the suspect based on the footage. They have filed a case and are actively searching for the fraudster, with plans to arrest him soon. Authorities have urged the public to exercise caution while making transactions on online platforms and to take necessary security precautions during test drives and transactions.

Police Response

SP Dehat Dr. Tejveer Singh confirmed that a case had been registered based on the victim’s complaint. Three teams have been formed to expedite the investigation, and officials are hopeful of solving the case soon.
