Young Woman Dies by Suicide After Lover Refuses Marriage in Hathras

A shocking case linked to a failed love relationship has emerged from Hathras district, where a young woman allegedly ended her life after her lover refused to marry her. Before consuming poison, the woman recorded an emotional video message and sent it to her aunt’s mobile phone, holding her lover responsible for her decision.

The deceased has been identified as Kamini Sharma, a resident of the Awas Vikas area under the jurisdiction of Sadar Kotwali police station. The incident occurred on Monday afternoon, when Kamini allegedly consumed poison at her home. Family members rushed her to a hospital, where doctors declared her dead.

Emotional Video Sent Before Death

According to family members, the video came to light after Kamini’s last rites were performed. In the video, Kamini is seen addressing her lover, Akash, stating that his refusal to marry her had left her with no option but to take her own life. She also apologised to her mother, calling her “the best mother in the world,” and expressed deep emotional pain.

In the recorded message, Kamini said she never wanted to end her life but was driven to the extreme step due to rejection and emotional distress. She also spoke highly of her mother and aunt, acknowledging their support and love.

Family Alleges Emotional Exploitation

Kamini’s family stated that she was in love with Akash, a young man living in the same neighbourhood, and wished to marry him. However, Akash and his family allegedly refused the proposal, which deeply affected her mental state.

The sudden death plunged the family into grief and shock. Following the discovery of the video, Kamini’s mother, Rashmi Sharma, approached Sadar Kotwali police and filed a formal complaint against Akash, accusing him of being responsible for her daughter’s death.

Police Begin Investigation

Police officials confirmed that a complaint has been registered and the matter is under investigation. The video message is being examined as part of the probe, and further legal action will be taken based on the findings.

Authorities stated that all aspects of the case, including allegations of emotional harassment, are being thoroughly investigated.
