Young Man Commits Suicide by Ingesting Perfume in Korba, Pregnant Wife Left in Shock

Chhattisgarh, Korba: A tragic incident has shocked the residents of Katghora in Korba district, Chhattisgarh, where a 28-year-old man named Vidyasagar allegedly consumed perfume and ended his life in his room. Despite being rushed to the hospital, he succumbed to his injuries. Family members revealed that he had been distressed over alleged black magic and supernatural fears.

Details of the Incident

Vidyasagar, who got married last year in 2025, was a resident of Katghora and worked as a mechanic. His wife is currently seven months pregnant. According to reports, Vidyasagar had recently ordered the perfume online. On Monday, after returning home, he reportedly requested perfume from his younger brother, went into his room, ingested it, and later hanged himself. His family found him and rushed him to the hospital, where he was declared dead.

Family Speaks Out

Speaking to the media, Vidyasagar’s elder brother, Bajrang Singh, said that Vidyasagar was a calm and well-mannered individual. Occasionally, he consumed alcohol, and his health was sometimes fragile. The family revealed that he had been increasingly anxious and believed that someone had cast black magic on him, which caused him great distress.

Police Investigation

The Katghora police have registered a case and are investigating the matter from all angles. Suresh Mani Sonwani, officer in charge at the district hospital police post, stated that statements of the deceased’s family members have been recorded. The diary related to the incident has been sent to the local police station for further investigation.

This unfortunate incident has left the family and community in shock, particularly affecting his pregnant wife, who is grappling with the sudden loss.
