Sikar (Rajasthan): A horrifying late-night tragedy in Sikar district has shocked the entire region. A young man and woman were fatally hit by a freight train near Jagmalpura crossing in the Sadar police station area between 2 AM and 3 AM. The impact was so severe that the young man’s head was severed and thrown several feet away, while the girl sustained a fatal head injury and died on the spot.
Earphones Blocked Sound of Approaching Train
Preliminary investigation by police, supported by inputs from family members, indicates that both victims were wearing earphones while crossing the railway track. As a result, they could not hear the sound of the approaching goods train travelling from Sikar towards Churu.
The loco pilot immediately alerted railway authorities after sensing an abnormal jolt. By the time the railway team and police reached the spot, both bodies were found lying on the tracks.
Victims Identified as 23-Year-Old Sunil and 18-Year-Old Anisha
The deceased have been identified as Sunil Kumar (23) and Anisha (18). According to Head Constable Vishram Meena, the families of the two are related. Relatives informed the police that the duo had stepped out late at night for some work and were listening to music on earphones while crossing the track — a mistake that proved fatal.
Sunil, the only son in his family, worked at a private coaching institute in Sikar. The families, devastated by the news, broke down in grief at the hospital as the bodies were brought in.
Police Investigating All Angles
Police officials have stated that the case is being examined from all possible angles, though initial findings strongly point towards accidental death caused by the victims’ inability to hear the oncoming train due to earphones.
The tragic incident has once again highlighted the dangers of using earphones while walking near railway tracks, raising serious questions about awareness and safety.
