Yogi Government Achieves Major Milestone: Ayushman Bharat Claims Settlement Accelerates, Pending Cases Drop from 10 Lakh to 3 Lakh

Lucknow: The Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh has taken significant steps to provide better, timely, and accessible healthcare to the poor and needy. Under the Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, families availing treatment receive cashless healthcare, while hospitals associated with the scheme are ensured prompt payments, strengthening the overall system.

These measures have yielded tangible results: over the past year, claim settlements under the Ayushman Bharat scheme have improved significantly.

Sharp Decline in Pending Claims
Archana Verma, CEO of the State Agency for Comprehensive Health and Integrated Services (SACHeeJS), said that continuous improvements have been made to ensure prompt and transparent settlement of claims submitted by listed government and private hospitals across the state.

While pending claims had surged to 10.75 lakh in January 2025, the figure dropped sharply to 3 lakh by December 2025, and these remaining claims are expected to be settled shortly. On average, over 2 lakh claims are received from hospitals each month, making timely processing a major challenge. Despite this, both old pending claims and new submissions are being systematically cleared, ensuring that hospitals treat Ayushman cardholders without unnecessary delays.

Strengthened Medical Audit System
Poja Yadav, ACEO of SACHeeJS, highlighted that to expedite and simplify claim settlements, the medical audit system has been strengthened. The number of medical auditors has been increased from 40 to 130, speeding up claim verification. Similarly, the Claim Processing Desks (CPDs) have been increased from 100 to 125 to ensure faster processing.

Hospitals are mandated to receive payments within 30 days, the prescribed Turn Around Time (TAT). Regular review meetings and continuous monitoring at the agency level ensure timely clearance of pending claims.

Financial Impact
Between January 2025 and December 2025, a total of ₹4,649 crore has been disbursed to hospitals under the Ayushman Bharat scheme. This demonstrates that the Yogi government is not only ensuring quality treatment for patients but also safeguarding the financial interests of hospitals, enabling them to provide better healthcare services to the economically weaker sections.
