Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh: Madhya Pradesh’s longest flyover in Jabalpur, built at a cost of ₹1,100 crore and stretching nearly 7 kilometers, is attracting attention not for its grandeur but for errors in its navigation signage. Several digital display boards on the bridge are reportedly giving incorrect directions, confusing motorists and putting them at risk of accidents.
The flyover, which was completed after six years of construction and is now approaching five months of operation, has multiple navigation indicators showing incorrect routes. Straight roads are sometimes marked with right-turn signals, leading drivers in the wrong direction.
The issue came to light after a local police constable, Shashank Tiwari, made a video highlighting the problem, which has now gone viral. “This flyover, the longest in Madhya Pradesh, has become like a giant maze for the people of Jabalpur,” Tiwari said in the video. “None of the indicators are properly guiding commuters, and following them can lead to unnecessary detours and even accidents.”
For instance, near Damoh Naka chowraha, one kilometer after the Gohalpur entry point, motorists heading straight toward Rani Tal and Madan Mahal are being misled by digital boards showing a right turn. Many drivers end up traveling several extra kilometers before realizing the mistake.
The viral video also includes suggestions from the constable on how commuters can avoid confusion and navigate safely. Authorities have yet to respond publicly to rectify the misleading signage.
