Woman Dies in Horrific Farm Accident in Sonbhadra, Beheaded by Tractor Fan in Front of Family

Sonbhadra: A chilling and tragic incident has shaken Majhigawan Ghorawal village in Uttar Pradesh’s Sonbhadra district, where a 36-year-old woman lost her life in a horrific farming accident. The incident occurred during paddy processing, when the woman was caught in a tractor-mounted fan, resulting in her instant death on the spot. The tragedy unfolded in full view of her family members, leaving the entire village in shock.

Accident During Paddy Processing

According to local sources, residents Bhuvneshwar Patel and Suresh Prajapati were engaged in paddy winnowing (dhan osai) using a tractor-fitted fan. During the operation, Manju Devi, wife of Suresh Prajapati, was assisting her husband by feeding paddy into the airflow.

In a moment of fatal negligence, Manju Devi’s saree got entangled in the fast-moving fan attached to the tractor. Within seconds, she was pulled towards the machine and suffered fatal injuries, leading to her immediate death.

Husband Collapses in Shock

Witnessing the horrifying scene, her husband Suresh Prajapati fainted due to shock. With the help of villagers, he was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment. The sudden and brutal nature of the accident has left the family devastated.

Police Action and Post-Mortem

Upon receiving information, the local police outpost in-charge reached the spot and took custody of the body. After completing the necessary legal formalities, the body was sent to the mortuary at Lodhi for post-mortem examination.

Kotwali Station House Officer Vinod Yadav confirmed the incident, stating that the woman died after coming in contact with the tractor fan during agricultural work. “The body has been sent for post-mortem and further legal action is underway,” he said.

Family and Village in Mourning

The tragic death has triggered scenes of deep grief in the family. Manju Devi’s daughter Priyanka and two sons, Aya and Sawant, were inconsolable. Relatives and villagers gathered in large numbers at the site, including the deceased’s aunt and uncle who live nearby.

The incident has cast a pall of gloom over the entire village, with residents describing it as one of the most disturbing accidents they have witnessed in recent times.

A Grim Reminder

The tragedy serves as a stark reminder of the dangers associated with unguarded agricultural machinery and the urgent need for safety awareness during farm operations, especially when heavy equipment is involved.
