Woman Claiming Love for Doctor Creates Scene at Gorakhpur Medical College Hostel

A dramatic and unusual incident unfolded at BRD Medical College, Gorakhpur, when a woman arrived at a hostel premises searching for a senior doctor, claiming she was in love with him. The incident, which occurred on December 26, caused panic and disruption among hostel staff and residents.

According to sources, the woman reached the hostel lobby and asked the warden about the whereabouts of Dr. Vivek Sharma, a senior psychiatrist at the medical college. When questioned about the purpose of her visit, she reportedly said, “I love him and want to meet him.” Upon learning that the doctor was not present on campus, she refused to leave and continued waiting in the hostel lobby for several hours.

Despite repeated attempts by the warden and medical staff to counsel her and persuade her to leave, the woman remained adamant. It was only after the staff warned of calling the police that she finally left the premises.

Dr. Vivek Sharma later informed authorities that the woman had first come into contact with him around two-and-a-half years ago, when she had accompanied her father for treatment at the medical college. During that time, she allegedly obtained his mobile number and began contacting him repeatedly. Over the years, she continued making calls from multiple numbers, many of which were blocked.

“I tried to explain to her several times that such behavior was inappropriate and informed her that I am married,” Dr. Sharma said. He added that despite repeated warnings, the woman continued to harass him and insisted on meeting him. Dr. Sharma also stated that he had kept his wife informed about the situation. His wife is currently posted in the ENT Department of the same medical college.

When the woman reached the hostel, Dr. Sharma and his wife were in Varanasi for personal work. Even after attempts to reason with her over the phone, she reportedly refused to listen. A complaint was subsequently filed, and a case has been registered by Gulhariya Police based on the doctor’s written statement.

Meanwhile, Dr. Tapas, Head of the Psychiatry Department, stated that the woman appears to be mentally unwell and may be suffering from a genetic or psychological disorder. “She requires immediate medical attention, family support, and proper mental health care. Her behavior suggests emotional dependence and untreated mental illness,” he said.

Medical College Principal Dr. Ram Kumar Jaiswal confirmed that the matter is under official consideration. “The administration stands firmly with the doctor. Legal action is being taken, and necessary steps are being followed as per the law,” he said.

Police officials stated that efforts are ongoing to trace the woman and ensure appropriate legal and medical intervention.
