Wolf Attacks Terrorize Bahraich: Toddler’s Life Saved by Brave Mother and Grandmother

Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh: Fear has gripped Bahraich district as a series of wolf attacks continue to threaten villagers. In the latest incident, a two-year-old girl narrowly escaped death when a wolf dragged her nearly 50 meters, only to be rescued by the courage of her mother and grandmother. This marks the third wolf attack in the district within 24 hours.

The terrifying event took place in Gulliain Purwa, under Gram Panchayat Godhiya No. 2, within the Kaiserganj Range. On Wednesday evening around 6:30 PM, the child was warming herself by a fire in her home’s courtyard with her mother and grandmother when the wolf suddenly leapt at her. Clamping its jaws around the toddler, the predator began dragging her toward the fields.

Reacting swiftly, the mother and grandmother fought back with sticks and rods, managing to free the child. The commotion drew the attention of local villagers, who rushed to the scene, prompting the wolf to flee toward the fields. The girl sustained serious facial injuries and was immediately taken to the Kaiserganj Community Health Center, where her condition has been reported as stable.

The terror is spreading across nearby villages. In Lalapurwa, another wolf attacked a child sitting near a fire outside his home. The child, protected by his jacket and sweater, escaped unharmed as the wolf fled after villagers raised an alarm. Forest department teams have begun combing operations in the area following the recent killing of the sixth wolf in the Kaiserganj Range, which seems to have provoked heightened aggression among the pack.

Thanks to the bravery of family members and the vigilance of local residents, lives have been saved, but the district remains on high alert as fear continues to loom over affected communities.
