Muzaffarnagar: In a major crackdown against drug trafficking, the Muzaffarnagar Police have seized illegal assets worth nearly ₹4 crore belonging to two brothers involved in the narcotics trade. The operation was carried out with drums, public announcements, and community awareness, sending a strong message that crime does not pay.
Seizure of Traffickers’ Assets
According to police, Lokendra and Yogendra, residents of Mandwara village in Budhana Kotwali area, have been long active in the drug trade. On 9 September last year, Mirapur police arrested the brothers with a substantial quantity of illegal narcotics. Investigation revealed that the duo had amassed significant illegal wealth through their operations.
Acting under Section 68(F) of the NDPS Act and following court orders, the police confiscated multiple properties, including houses and land, registered in the names of the accused and their relatives. The seizure was conducted publicly, with drums beaten and announcements made in the village and surrounding areas to warn citizens that assets acquired through crime are not safe.
SSP Sanjay Kumar Verma stated that the action was part of the ongoing “Operation Savera” under the NDPS Act. He added that in compliance with the court and the District Magistrate’s order dated 22 January 2026, properties worth approximately ₹4 crore were officially seized.
The SSP emphasized that police efforts will no longer be limited to arresting drug traffickers; strict legal action will also target the illegal assets acquired through drug and other criminal activities, aiming to cripple the financial backbone of organized crime.
