Rewari (Haryana): In a shocking and tragic incident, a 20-year-old student from Rajasthan was found hanging inside a hotel room in Haryana’s Rewari district. The deceased, identified as Nikita, was a B.Sc. final-year student at Delhi University’s Atma Ram College and a resident of Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan.
According to police reports, Nikita had checked into Room No. 206 of a local hotel on Monday. However, when she failed to check out the next morning, hotel staff became suspicious. Despite repeated knocks, there was no response from inside. The staff immediately informed the police.
Upon arrival, officers broke open the door — only to discover Nikita’s body hanging from the ceiling fan. A chair was found placed beneath, indicating she had used it to take her own life.
During the search, police recovered a diary from the room, believed to contain her last thoughts.
Suicide Note Reveals Mental Distress
In her note, Nikita wrote:
“I don’t know what to do next. I don’t know if I’ll ever get a job. Mom, Dad, please forgive me. My mental condition isn’t good. I’ve been thinking about this for a long time. That’s why I chose this hotel in Rewari.”
Preliminary investigations suggest that Nikita checked into the hotel alone, as confirmed by CCTV footage. Forensic experts have collected evidence from the scene, and the post-mortem report will determine the exact cause of death.
The police are currently investigating the case from both suicide and foul play angles.
This heartbreaking incident has once again raised concerns about the rising stress and uncertainty faced by students over their careers and mental health.
