Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh: In a shocking incident from Moradabad district, a woman allegedly conspired with her lover and two accomplices to murder her husband by drowning him in a canal. Police have arrested all four accused and claimed to have solved the case.
The victim, Akhtar Ali (43), a resident of Godhi village under Bhojpur police station limits, had been married to Shabina for 19 years. He ran a tea stall in the village and is survived by one daughter and five sons. According to the victim’s brother, Afser Ali, Shabina was allegedly involved in an extramarital relationship with Altaf (35), a man from the same village, which frequently led to disputes between the couple.
Akhtar Ali left home on January 27 and did not return. A missing person report was filed the next day. On January 30, his body was recovered from a canal. The post-mortem report confirmed death by drowning, and initially police suspected an accident.
However, after learning about Shabina’s alleged relationship with Altaf, investigators detained both for questioning on the orders of the Senior Superintendent of Police. During interrogation, the police claim the duo confessed to planning the murder with the help of two associates, identified as Santa alias Senta and Ranjeet Singh.
According to police, Shabina stated that her husband objected to her meeting Altaf and often assaulted her over the affair. She allegedly planned the murder so she could live with her lover. Altaf told investigators that Shabina made continuing their relationship conditional on eliminating her husband.
Police said the accused took Akhtar Ali in a car and drowned him in the canal. The vehicle used in the crime and the victim’s clothes have been recovered. Further investigation is underway.
