Why Was UP Police Attacked in Rajasthan? Mob Assaults Officers, SI Dragged Inside House and Brutally Beaten

A Uttar Pradesh Police team from Mathura came under a violent and life-threatening attack in Rajasthan’s Deeg district while attempting to arrest a kidnapping accused. The mob not only assaulted the officers with sticks and stones but also dragged a sub-inspector inside a house and tried to strangulate him.

Mob Turns Violent as UP Police Arrest Kidnapping Accused

The incident took place in Ikelara village of Deeg. A police team from Govardhan Police Station—comprising SI Nitin Tyagi, Jitendra Kumar, and Women SI Sunita Singh—had arrived to arrest Amit Thakur, a resident of the village and a wanted accused in a kidnapping case.

The officers successfully apprehended Amit Thakur and seated him in the police vehicle. But within minutes, a group of 15–20 agitated locals, including both men and women, surrounded the team and launched a brutal attack with sticks, wooden rods, bricks, and stones.

SI Dragged Inside House, Beaten, and Nearly Strangled

In a shocking escalation, the mob forcibly dragged SI Nitin Tyagi into the accused’s house. He was beaten mercilessly, and in an apparent attempt to kill him, the attackers tried to choke him using a plastic cable.

The mob also looted Tyagi’s belongings, including:

  • Cash
  • Police ID card
  • Aadhaar card
  • Driving licence
  • PAN card
  • Samsung mobile phone

Several other policemen also sustained injuries during the attack.

Rajasthan Police Rescues UP Team

On receiving information, Rajasthan Police officers rushed to the spot and managed to rescue the UP police personnel. The injured officers were taken to Deeg District Hospital for treatment.

Before the police could take action, all attackers fled the scene.

Case Registered; Accused on the Run

Based on the complaint from Govardhan Police Station, Deeg Police have registered a case and begun searching for the attackers. Notably, this is not the first such incident involving Mathura police facing hostility in Rajasthan’s border areas.

The attack raises serious questions about inter-state police coordination, law enforcement support, and officer safety during cross-border operations.
