Mathura: The wedding of renowned spiritual storyteller Indresh Upadhyay is being celebrated today in Jaipur, with eminent personalities from the fields of spirituality, arts, and culture arriving from across the country. Indresh’s father, Shri Krishna Chandra Shastri, himself a respected Ramkatha and Bhagwat narrator, enjoys high regard among senior saints. Both father and son are devoted followers of Rasik Saint Premanand Maharaj of Vrindavan, who is equally fond of them.
This led many to wonder why Premanand Ji Maharaj did not attend such a significant occasion.
Not Kidney Trouble — The Real Reason Lies Elsewhere
The first assumption that naturally arises is Maharaj Ji’s known kidney-related health issues. However, this is not the actual reason behind his absence.
The true reason is that Premanand Ji has taken ‘Kshetra Sannyas’. Under this vow, he has pledged that his body will never leave the sacred boundaries of Braj. The saint has committed himself to remaining within the traditional 84-kos area of Braj, without exception.
Because of this strict spiritual discipline, he does not travel outside the Braj region—not even for medical emergencies. To ensure his health needs are fully met, his ashram has been equipped with a mini ICU, enabling all treatment to take place within the premises.
Invitation Was Likely Sent — Blessings Still Reaching the Couple
Around a month before the wedding, Shri Krishna Chandra Shastri visited Premanand Ji in Vrindavan. It is very likely that he personally invited Maharaj Ji to the ceremony. However, due to the vow of Kshetra Sannyas, Maharaj Ji could not attend the marriage celebrations in Jaipur.
Nevertheless, the newlywed couple continues to receive his blessings and goodwill, which hold immense spiritual significance for the family.
