Why Female Forest Guard Madhavi Jadhav Clashed with Guardian Minister Girish Mahajan During Republic Day Speech in Nashik

Nashik: Republic Day celebrations across Maharashtra were vibrant, but an incident at Nashik’s flag-hoisting ceremony sparked controversy. Guardian Minister Girish Mahajan failed to mention Bharat Ratna Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the principal architect of the Indian Constitution, in his speech. This omission angered female forest guard Madhavi Jadhav, who publicly questioned the minister, leading to a heated exchange.

The Incident
During the ceremony, Madhavi Jadhav confronted Mahajan, demanding an explanation. Despite senior officials’ attempts to calm her, she remained firm. She said, “Even if I am suspended, I will not be afraid of anyone. I will speak the truth. Dr. Ambedkar is the architect of our Constitution, and you cannot erase his contribution.”

What Madhavi Jadhav Said
Jadhav criticized the minister for ignoring Dr. Ambedkar’s name, stating:

“Madam, even if I am suspended, I will continue my work with dignity. I do not seek media attention. I may work with sand or soil, but I will not let Dr. Ambedkar’s identity be erased. The Constitution is why you are a minister, and I believe in democracy, not just ceremonial days.”

She questioned why the Constitution’s creator, who deserves recognition on Republic Day, was omitted from Mahajan’s speech.

Girish Mahajan Expresses Regret
Following the confrontation, Mahajan issued a statement expressing regret. He said the omission was unintentional and that he had no intent to disrespect Dr. Ambedkar. He emphasized that his speech included patriotic slogans like “Bharat Mata Ki Jai,” “Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Ki Jai,” and “Vande Mataram”. Mahajan said:

“If anyone felt hurt by my speech, I apologize. There was no deliberate intention to ignore Dr. Ambedkar.”

Political Fallout
The incident quickly drew the attention of opposition parties. Shiv Sena (Thackeray group) leader Ambadas Danve criticized Mahajan, claiming that BJP leaders do not respect the Constitution. Prakash Ambedkar, leader of the Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi, contacted Madhavi Jadhav for details and demanded a legal case be filed. OBC leader Laxman Hek demanded Mahajan’s resignation.

Complaint Filed with Police
Madhavi Jadhav has lodged a formal complaint against Girish Mahajan at Nashik’s Sarkarwadi Police Station, making this case a developing political and legal issue.
