“Why Are You Getting Agitated?” Diya Kumari Clashes With MLAs in Rajasthan Assembly

Jaipur: A heated exchange unfolded in the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly on Thursday during the Question Hour, as Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari and Congress MLAs engaged in a tense debate over road construction and crop compensation.

The controversy began when Chetan Patel, Congress MLA from Peepalda in Kota, raised questions about the government’s failure to release compensation for crops damaged by heavy rainfall and the delay in constructing non-pencheable and missing-link roads in his constituency.

Diya Kumari responds
Deputy CM Diya Kumari responded by comparing the performance of the previous government with the current administration, which sparked a row in the Assembly. Members from both sides clashed, leading to a chaotic scene in the House.

“Why are you getting agitated?”
As the debate escalated, Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devnani intervened to restore order. During this, Deputy Leader of Opposition and Gangapur City MLA Ramkesh Meena remarked that the opposition only wanted answers and accused the government of misleading the House. Diya Kumari, standing between Meena and the Congress MLAs, expressed her frustration, asking, “Why are you getting agitated?” She emphasized that she had presented factual data before the House and highlighted lapses of the previous Gehlot government.

Comparing road construction budgets
Diya Kumari also shared a comparative analysis of road development expenditure, stating that the previous government had spent approximately ₹12,300 crore on roads in five years, whereas the current government has already invested over ₹8,000 crore in just two years. She further alleged that roads recommended by BJP MLAs were not approved under the previous administration, while the current government is implementing all recommendations without discrimination.

The exchange highlighted growing tensions in the Assembly over infrastructure delays and governance, with the Deputy CM defending the current administration’s record while taking a swipe at past governments.
