Meerut: In a strong action against the growing menace of fake VIP culture, Meerut Police arrested Aakash Sansanwal, fiancé of social media influencer Anjali Arora—popularly known for the viral ‘Kacha Badam’ trend—along with four others near the Kashi Toll Plaza on the Meerut–Delhi Expressway on Republic Day. The police also seized multiple luxury vehicles bearing fake MP and MLA stickers.
According to SP City Ayush Vikram Singh, routine vehicle checking was underway on Sunday when police noticed a Scorpio SUV displaying a legislator’s sticker. Upon stopping the vehicle, officers found that the sticker was fake and unauthorised. The occupant was identified as Aakash Sansanwal, a resident of Katwaria Sarai, Kishangarh area in Delhi.
Preliminary investigation revealed that Sansanwal was illegally using false political identity symbols to gain preferential treatment on roads. Police confirmed that he had no valid authorisation to use such stickers or privileges.
Five Arrested, FIR Registered
Along with Sansanwal, police arrested:
- Karmveer Singh, son of former Congress general secretary Rajveer Singh Verma (Khatauli, Muzaffarnagar)
- Ashish Chaudhary (Nagala Hukam Singh, Gautam Buddh Nagar)
- Kapil Prajapati (Rohini, Delhi)
- Danish Chaudhary (Masuri, Ghaziabad)
All the accused were travelling in separate vehicles, each fitted with fake MP/MLA stickers. Police registered an FIR under cheating and related sections and seized all the vehicles involved. The accused are scheduled to be produced before the court on Monday.
Another Accused Breaks Toll Barrier, Arrested Later
In a related incident at the same toll plaza, a car displaying an MLA pass and fitted with black-tinted windows attempted to evade police checking. The driver claimed to be a close relative of a legislator but fled after questioning intensified, breaking the toll barrier while escaping.
SP City Ayush Vikram Singh said the accused was tracked using CCTV footage and vehicle registration details and was arrested later in the night near the Uttar Pradesh border.
Police Send Strong Message
Meerut Police stated that the operation was aimed at restoring public trust and ending the misuse of political symbols. “No one is above the law. Misuse of fake VIP identity will invite strict legal action,” officials said.
The crackdown on Republic Day sends a clear message that fraudulent claims of power and privilege will not be tolerated, regardless of social media fame or political connections.
