Who Was Sadhvi Prem Baisa? The Life Story Behind a Mysterious Death That Moved the Nation

The sudden and mysterious death of Sadhvi Prem Baisa, a young spiritual leader from Rajasthan, has left the nation in shock. Revered by her followers as the “Modern Meera,” the 25-year-old sadhvi’s passing has raised serious questions after her death allegedly occurred following an injection, followed by a cryptic Instagram post believed to be a suicide note.

Born around 2000–2001 in Chhoti Dhanari village of Jodhpur district—now known as Krishna Nagar—Prem Baisa belonged to a Rathore Rajput family. Her father, Devisingh Rathore, was not only her parent but also her spiritual guide. From an early age, she displayed deep inclination toward devotion and spiritual practices rather than material comforts.

While most girls her age pursued careers and worldly ambitions, Prem Baisa immersed herself in Krishna bhakti, devotional music, and satsang. Her melodious bhajans and powerful spiritual discourses soon earned her recognition across western Rajasthan. She later established the “Sadhna Kutir Ashram” in the Boranada area of Jodhpur, where she led a life of simplicity and meditation.

Often described as a woman who chose a hut over a palace, Sadhvi Prem Baisa symbolized renunciation at a remarkably young age. In her sermons, she frequently emphasized that “true happiness does not lie in luxury, but in discovering God within oneself.”

However, her spiritual journey was not without controversy. In July 2025, a video of her embracing her guru—who was also her father—went viral on social media, sparking widespread speculation. She later clarified that the video was misrepresented and alleged that former ashram associates had demanded ₹20 lakh as extortion, editing and circulating the clip after their demand was refused.

The tragic chapter of her life unfolded on January 28, 2026, when she reportedly fell ill at her ashram. A compounder was called to administer an injection, after which her condition deteriorated rapidly. She was rushed to hospital, where doctors declared her dead.

Adding to the mystery, nearly four hours after her death, a post appeared on her official Instagram account. The emotional message spoke of “Agni Pariksha” (trial by fire) and justice, and was widely interpreted as a suicide note—triggering nationwide debate and grief.

Following her death, large-scale protests erupted in Jodhpur, with devotees demanding a transparent investigation. Nagaur MP Hanuman Beniwal also called for an impartial probe into the incident.

Police have arrested the compounder involved in administering the injection, and authorities are awaiting the post-mortem report to determine the exact cause of death. Officials have stated that all angles—medical negligence, suicide, and conspiracy—are being examined.
