Aurangabad, Bihar: Once again, Bihar has showcased its talent on the national stage. Suman Shekhar, a young entrepreneur from a small village in Aurangabad district, has made history by transforming the Assam Legislative Assembly into a fully digital and ‘smart’ institution. His remarkable work has earned appreciation from Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who personally praised Suman for his team’s achievement.
Transforming Assam Assembly
Under Suman Shekhar’s leadership, his team developed ALISA, an AI and machine-learning-based application capable of communicating in Hindi, English, Assamese, and Bodo. The application has digitized all historic documents, legislative proceedings, and key records of the Assam Assembly dating back to 1937. Now, all this data can be accessed on tablets with a single click. Suman demonstrated the system to CM Himanta Biswa Sarma, who lauded the initiative and congratulated the team for their exceptional work.
Early Life and Education
Suman Shekhar hails from Chiraiyatand village in Kutumba block, Aurangabad district, Bihar. Born into a middle-class family, he completed his early schooling in the Amba region. He then attended Satchidanand Sinha College for his intermediate studies before moving to Jaipur to pursue an engineering degree. Rather than opting for a traditional job after graduation, Suman decided to carve his own path and create something impactful.
Entrepreneurial Journey
Suman later moved to Gurugram, where he founded his company, Abhastra Foundation. The company works across sectors such as education, logistics, railways, and government technology solutions, with a particular focus on digital innovation in political and administrative systems.
A Nature Enthusiast
Beyond technology, Suman is also deeply committed to environmental conservation. He has been installing wooden bird nests, leading tree-planting campaigns, and raising awareness among youth about ecological protection in his village. Suman attributes his success to his parents, teachers, and friends, and today, he serves as a source of inspiration not only for Aurangabad but for the entire state of Bihar.
