Patna: In a major crackdown on fraud carried out in the name of Bihar Police recruitment, the Patna Police have busted an organized gang that was cheating innocent youth by promising government jobs. The operation was led by City SP (West) Bhanu Pratap Singh, under whose supervision the entire network was exposed and two key accused were arrested.
According to IPS Bhanu Pratap Singh, the gang members misled aspirants preparing for police recruitment exams and extorted large sums of money by falsely assuring them of selection through illegal means. The swift and precise action by the police has brought relief to hundreds of aspirants and their families.
Who Is IPS Bhanu Pratap Singh?
IPS Bhanu Pratap Singh is known as one of the most dynamic and fearless officers of the Bihar cadre. A native of Fatehpur Sikri in Uttar Pradesh, he has earned a reputation for being firm, disciplined, and uncompromising when it comes to maintaining law and order.
Academically brilliant, Bhanu Pratap Singh cleared the highly competitive UPSC Civil Services Examination three consecutive times between 2018 and 2020—a rare achievement in itself. He holds a Master’s degree in Hindi Literature and achieved success in both UP PCS and UPSC with Hindi Literature as his optional subject.
‘Lathicharge Expert’: A Tough Cop with Zero Tolerance for Crime
After completing his training, IPS Bhanu Pratap Singh received his first major posting as Town ASP in Muzaffarpur. There, he became widely known for taking strict action against street-level hooliganism, political intimidation, and criminal elements. His hands-on policing style—often seen personally chasing offenders with a baton—earned him the popular nickname “Lathicharge Expert.”

One of the most notable cases occurred in December 2024, when he tightened the legal noose around Pinku Yadav, brother of notorious strongman and MLA Ritu Lal Yadav. Ignoring political pressure and influence, Singh’s decisive action forced the accused to surrender, further cementing his image as a bold, fearless, and upright officer within the police force.
