Who Is Inspector Vishal Sangari, Honoured by CM Yogi for Busting a Religious Conversion Racket

Inspector Vishal Sangari, a courageous officer of the Uttar Pradesh Police, has been awarded the Chief Minister’s Medal for Outstanding Service in recognition of his role in exposing an organised religious conversion racket in Meerut in 2023. The honour was conferred by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath at a ceremonial event held in Lucknow on Sunday, where Sangari received a medal and a citation for his exemplary service.

At the time of the operation, Inspector Sangari was posted with the Special Branch of the Intelligence Wing in Meerut. Acting on credible intelligence inputs, he uncovered suspicious activities related to forced and inducement-based religious conversions. Through meticulous investigation, technical evidence, and sustained intelligence gathering, he successfully dismantled a well-organised gang involved in the illegal activities.

A case was subsequently registered at Kankerkhera police station, and the crackdown was widely seen as a major success for both the police and the state administration. The operation drew attention at the state level and reinforced the government’s resolve to act firmly against unlawful conversion networks.

A Disciplined Officer with a Proven Track Record

Inspector Vishal Sangari is a 2001-batch officer and a native of Old Dalanwala area in Dehradun, Uttarakhand. Over the years, he has served extensively in Meerut, where he handled several sensitive assignments, particularly during his tenure in the intelligence wing. His work has been marked by discipline, sharp analytical skills, and strong commitment to the rule of law.

Currently, Inspector Sangari is posted in Sitapur district.

Not His First Honour

This is not the first time that Inspector Sangari’s service has been formally recognised. He has previously received commendation from the Union Ministry of Home Affairs for his contributions. In 2017, the Uttar Pradesh government had also awarded him a special medal for meritorious service.

The latest honour further cements Inspector Vishal Sangari’s reputation as a dedicated and fearless police officer, whose work has significantly contributed to maintaining law and order and strengthening internal security in Uttar Pradesh.
