Who Is Avinash Srivastava, the ‘Psycho Killer’ Accused of 20 Murders? Patna Police Begins Interrogation After Arrest

In a major breakthrough, Patna Police have arrested a dreaded criminal who earned the chilling title of “Psycho Killer” after allegedly executing more than 20 murders in a short yet violent criminal career. The accused, identified as Avinash Srivastava alias Amit, was arrested while plotting yet another murder soon after being released on bail.

A Killer With an Ordinary Face but a Terrifying Past

At first glance, Avinash looks like any ordinary man. There is nothing in his appearance that hints at the brutality associated with his name. But behind that simple face lies a criminal mind that has repeatedly shocked investigators.

The term “psycho killer” is often used in films and web series, yet Patna Police have now encountered a real-life figure who fits that description. Police officials say Avinash has murdered over 20 people and was planning one more killing when they caught him.

Arrest in Patna

On Monday, Patna Police arrested Avinash from Chowk–Shikarpur, Nalapar area under the Chowk police station limits. Officers recovered illegal firearms and live cartridges from his possession. The criminal had been out of jail for just two days after securing bail.

Authorities confirmed that he was on his way to execute another murder when the police team intercepted him.

Recently Released on Bail

Patna City DSP-II Dr. Gaurav Kumar confirmed the arrest and revealed that police received intelligence that Avinash and his gang were plotting to assassinate a prominent businessman in Patna. Acting swiftly, he led the special team that apprehended the accused.

Avinash had recently walked out of Bhagalpur Jail on bail after serving a long sentence in Beur Jail, Patna.

Who Is Avinash Srivastava?

According to police, Avinash—also known as Amit—stepped into the crime world in 2003 to avenge the murder of his father, Lalan Srivastava, a prominent political figure who was shot dead in Hajipur in 2002.

His first target was Moin Khan, whom Avinash allegedly pumped 32 bullets into. Shockingly, he sat beside the body for nearly three hours after the murder. This marked the beginning of a killing spree that eventually led to around 20 murder cases.

High-Profile Targets, Including Deputy Mayor’s Husband

Avinash is accused of killing Dina Gop, husband of Patna’s then Deputy Mayor Amravati Devi, using an AK-47. He also murdered the lawyer who represented suspects involved in his father’s murder.

His other victims included Vijay Gop, brother of Captain Sunil; Ajay Gop, Lalu Gop, Ajit Gop, advocate Sardar Ji, Imtiaz, Chanarik Gop, Manu Sonar, and Rahul Yadav.

Before entering crime, Avinash led a respectable life. He had completed his education and held a well-paying job in Delhi earning ₹40,000 per month. But betrayal, rage, and revenge allegedly turned him into one of Bihar’s most feared killers.

“Search My Name on Google”

Avinash became notorious for his exceptional marksmanship and his signature style of firing dozens of bullets into his victims, earning him the label “Psycho Killer.”
In 2016, he was arrested during a robbery at Central Bank of India in Hajipur. During interrogation, he told the police, “Search Psycho Killer Amit on Google.”

Today, Patna Police have begun a fresh round of interrogation to piece together the full extent of his crimes and future plans.
