
Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh: A fresh wave of speculation has emerged following a social media post by Prateek Yadav, announcing his intention to divorce Aparna Yadav. The news has once again brought the Mulayam Singh Yadav family into the public spotlight.
Aparna Yadav, who joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) before the 2022 Uttar Pradesh elections, has been a topic of discussion within the Samajwadi Party circle since her departure. Now, Prateek Yadav’s post has reignited media and public attention.
Family Background
Aparna Yadav is married to Prateek Yadav, son of Mulayam Singh Yadav and Sadhana Gupta, making her the youngest daughter-in-law of the former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister. She was born on 5 February 1990 to journalist Arvind Singh Bisht and former Lucknow municipal officer Ambi Bisht. During the Samajwadi Party government, her father served as Information Commissioner.
Education and Early Life
Aparna completed her schooling at Loreto Convent Intermediate College, where she became friends with Prateek Yadav. Remarkably, their bond began when Prateek proposed to her via email at the age of 12.
After finishing her schooling, Aparna pursued higher studies in the United Kingdom, earning a Master’s degree in International Relations and Politics from the University of Manchester. In addition, she received formal training in classical music at Bhatkhande Music University for nine years, mastering the Thumri style. Her classical singing has been widely praised.
Marriage and Personal Life
Aparna and Prateek were engaged in 2011 and married in December 2011 in Mulayam Singh Yadav’s ancestral village, Saifai, Uttar Pradesh. Their daughter, Prathma, was born subsequently. The wedding was a star-studded affair, with Amitabh Bachchan among the guests, and highlighted Mulayam Singh Yadav’s political stature.
Political Alignment and Public Statements
Despite being part of the Mulayam family, Aparna Yadav has publicly praised BJP initiatives. In 2014, she lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, and in 2017, she commended Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for his governance. Later, in 2022, she formally joined the BJP. She has also expressed support for the Ram Mandir Pran Pratishtha ceremony, earning her media attention for her political positions.
