In a symbolic and politically significant moment, Aaran Pilot, the elder son of Congress leader Sachin Pilot, made his first public appearance at a political event during the “Save Aravalli, Save Future” foot march organized by the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) in Jaipur on Friday.
The march began from Jalupura and concluded at Government Hostel Circle, where slogans were raised demanding stronger protection of the Aravalli mountain range. After a brief demonstration, senior Congress leaders and party workers dispersed peacefully.
This marked the first time that Sachin Pilot, former Deputy Chief Minister of Rajasthan and All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary, participated in a political march alongside his son, drawing considerable attention in political circles.
Who Is Aaran Pilot?
Sachin Pilot and his wife Sara Pilot have two sons—Aaran Pilot and Vihaan Pilot. Both have largely stayed away from public and political life and are currently focused on their education. Aaran’s presence at the Jaipur march is being seen as his first step into the public eye, although no formal political role has been indicated.
Political observers note that leaders’ family members appearing at public movements often carry symbolic weight, particularly when the cause is related to environmental protection and youth engagement.
‘Aravalli Is North India’s Protective Shield’
Addressing the gathering, Sachin Pilot described the Aravalli mountain range as a “protective shield for North India.” He stressed that the Aravallis play a crucial role in preventing desertification, regulating monsoons, conserving water resources, supporting agriculture and livestock, and maintaining ecological balance.
“The Aravalli range is not just a mountain system; it is the backbone of our environment. Its destruction will have irreversible consequences,” Pilot said, urging governments to take concrete steps to protect it from illegal mining and environmental degradation.
Several Congress leaders and MLAs, including Rafiq Khan, Ameen Kagzi, Manish Yadav, and Ramniwas Gawariya, were present during the march and interacted with party workers and supporters.
Political and Environmental Significance
The NSUI-led march comes amid growing concerns over environmental degradation in Rajasthan. The participation of Sachin Pilot and the public appearance of his son have added both political and generational significance to the movement, reinforcing the Congress party’s attempt to connect youth participation with environmental activism.
While Aaran Pilot’s future role remains uncertain, his presence at the march has sparked curiosity and discussion, making the event notable beyond its environmental message.
