Jaunpur/Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh STF has declared dismissed constable Alok Pratap Singh—a close associate of strongman and former MP Dhananjay Singh—a wanted fugitive in the high-profile cough syrup trafficking case.
After uncovering crucial evidence, including crore-level financial transactions with Shaili Traders, the STF has now issued a lookout notice to prevent Alok from fleeing abroad. STF teams are conducting raids to track him down.
Key Accused Linked Through Multiple Drug Firms
During interrogation, arrested accused Amit Singh Tata disclosed that one Vikas Singh from Azamgarh introduced him to Shubham Jaiswal, who later connected him with partners Varun Singh, Gaurav Jaiswal, and Vishal Mehrotra.
On their instructions, two medical supply firms were created in January 2024 at a Dhanbad address to facilitate cough syrup smuggling to Bangladesh and West Bengal:
- Devkripa Medical Agency (in Amit Singh’s name)
- Shreyasi Medical Agency (in Alok Pratap Singh’s name)
Both Amit and Alok initially invested ₹5 lakh each and reportedly earned ₹20–22 lakh from the first consignment alone.
Amit further stated that although he and Alok visited Dhanbad only two or three times, Varun Singh handled all operations there.
Later, the duo obtained drug licences in Varanasi, where they opened new firms:
- Shri Medical (Amit Singh)
- Maa Sharda Medical (Alok Pratap Singh)
These Varanasi firms, too, were operated entirely by Shubham Jaiswal and his partners. Transactions worth around ₹10 lakh were executed through partners Vikas Singh and Vishal Malhotra.
Based on financial and documentary evidence from these shell firms, STF concluded that Alok Pratap Singh was deeply involved in illicit trade and money movement, leading to him being declared wanted.
Fake Transactions With Shaili Traders Exposed
STF has also unearthed evidence of fraudulent dealings between Alok’s firms and Shaili Traders, further strengthening the case against him. These findings prompted swift action, including the lookout notice.
Common Address in Voter List Raises Questions
A new controversy has emerged after it was found that former MP Dhananjay Singh and fugitive constable Alok Pratap Singh share the same registered address in the voter list of Malahani Assembly constituency, Jaunpur—even though Alok is not originally a resident of Jaunpur.
Former IPS officer and Azad Adhikar Sena chief Amitabh Thakur has written to the DGP and Chief Secretary demanding an investigation. According to him:
- House Number 17 lists 17 individuals, including:
- Rajdev Singh (father of Dhananjay Singh)
- Jitendra Singh (brother)
- Shrikala Singh (wife)
- Dhananjay Singh himself
- Alok Pratap Singh (at serial number 120)
Thakur stated that such entries under one house number appear highly suspicious and require a thorough probe.
