Begusarai: Celebrations erupted at the Pokharia locality in Begusarai after Sanjay Paswan—elected for the first time from the reserved Bakhri Assembly seat—was inducted as a minister in the Nitish Kumar cabinet. Family members, neighbours, and supporters marked the moment with fireworks, colours, and sweets as joy spread across the neighbourhood.

Sanjay’s mother, Soni Devi, became emotional while speaking to reporters. “This is a moment of immense happiness for our family,” she said, adding that her son has always worked with honesty and compassion.

From Ram Vilas to Chirag: A 28-Year Journey

Sanjay Paswan has been associated with the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) for the past 28 years. He worked closely with the late Ram Vilas Paswan, serving as district president and later as state president of the Dalit Sena. After Ram Vilas Paswan’s demise, Sanjay continued his political journey as a loyal supporter—often described as the “Hanuman” of Chirag Paswan.

Recognising his dedication, Chirag Paswan fielded him from the Bakhri reserved seat for the first time, where he secured a notable victory. Following the win, Chirag once again showed trust in him, ensuring his inclusion in the new state cabinet.

‘Chirag Gave What Ram Vilas Did Not’ — Emotional Mother Credits Chirag

Soni Devi credited her son’s success entirely to Chirag Paswan.
“My son worked for Ram Vilas ji for years, but he got nothing. It is his son, Chirag Paswan, who has given him everything today,” she said, her voice choking with emotion.

She added that Sanjay, the youngest of four brothers, has always been soft-spoken and committed to serving people across all sections of society.

Neighbours Confident of His Integrity

Family members and neighbours recalled Sanjay Paswan’s polite nature from childhood. They expressed confidence that, as both MLA and minister, he would continue to work with the same honesty and dedication, honouring the trust placed in him by the people of Bakhri.
