Jodhpur: The controversial death of renowned storyteller Sadhvi Prem Baisa has shaken Rajasthan’s spiritual and social circles. What began as a claim of sudden illness after an injection ended with her burial in a samadhi amid allegations, a purported suicide note, and the resurfacing of an old blackmail case. Here is a detailed account of what happened over the last three days.
Sudden Death at a Private Hospital
On January 28, Sadhvi Prem Baisa’s health reportedly deteriorated at her ashram in Jodhpur. According to her father, Veernath, she was suffering only from a mild cold.
He claimed that during treatment at the ashram, she was administered an injection, after which her condition worsened rapidly. She was rushed to a private hospital in Jodhpur, where doctors declared her dead within minutes of admission, around 5:30 pm.
Her sudden death left followers stunned and immediately raised questions about the circumstances surrounding her treatment.
Police Intervention and Postmortem
Later that night, around 9:28 pm, a post regarding her death surfaced on Instagram. Shortly thereafter, police reached the ashram and shifted the body to the Mahatma Gandhi Hospital mortuary for postmortem examination.
On January 29, tension prevailed throughout the day as disagreements emerged over the last rites. After the postmortem was conducted, the body was handed over to the family at 3:30 pm.
By 6:30 pm, the body reached Pareu village in Balotra district, her native place.
Samadhi Amid Controversy
On January 30, her body was kept for public viewing in the morning for final darshan. Later that afternoon, at around 12:30 pm, Sadhvi Prem Baisa was laid to rest through samadhi, following saintly traditions, near the ashram in Pareu village.
The decision to perform a samadhi instead of a conventional cremation added another layer of debate to the case.

Alleged Suicide Note and Old Case Resurface
Soon after her death, reports emerged about a purported suicide note, pushing the case in a new direction. Alongside this, an old blackmail case involving Sadhvi Prem Baisa resurfaced, drawing renewed public attention.
Several followers questioned the role of her father in the entire sequence of events, though he has denied any wrongdoing.
The Blackmail Case That Haunted Her
The controversy dates back to July 13, 2025, when a video allegedly showing Sadhvi Prem Baisa hugging a man went viral on social media and was labelled obscene.
On July 16, she filed an FIR at Boranada police station, clarifying that the man in the video was her father, and the clip dated back to 2021, when she was suffering from depression and was being comforted.
Police investigations revealed that former associates had extracted the footage from CCTV cameras and allegedly demanded ₹20 lakh to prevent its circulation. When the money was not paid, the edited video was uploaded online.
Multiple accused, including a sound system operator and her former driver, were arrested.
At the time, police stated that the accused had maliciously distorted a father-daughter relationship to tarnish her image. Sadhvi Prem Baisa had publicly said:
“They have defamed the saffron cloth. I am ready to undergo any test to prove my truth.”

From a disputed injection to a sudden death, from a supposed suicide note to a hurried samadhi, the case of Sadhvi Prem Baisa continues to raise serious questions. With emotions running high and multiple angles under scrutiny, the demand for a transparent investigation is growing louder.
