Weather Changes in Haryana and Punjab as Early Morning Rain Brings Back the Chill; Chandigarh Also Receives Showers

Chandigarh: The weather took a sudden turn in Haryana and Punjab on Friday morning as widespread rainfall accompanied by thunder swept across several districts, bringing back cold conditions after two days of bright sunshine. The rain began around 2:00 AM in many areas and led to a noticeable drop in temperatures, intensifying the winter chill once again.

In Chandigarh, light to moderate rain started in the early hours of the morning and continued intermittently until around 6:00 AM. The city had experienced strong sunshine over the past two days, but the rainfall has once again made cold conditions more pronounced.

Weather Conditions Over the Past Day

On Thursday, residents in both states experienced warmer daytime conditions, followed by a return of cold weather by evening. According to the Meteorological Department, Hoshiarpur in Punjab recorded the lowest minimum temperature at 3.3°C, making it the coldest location in the state.

Other temperature readings across Punjab included:

  • Amritsar: 3.4°C
  • Bathinda: 5.0°C
  • Gurdaspur: 5.0°C
  • Ludhiana: 4.4°C
  • Patiala: 5.1°C

Temperature Situation in Haryana

Cold conditions persisted across several parts of Haryana as well. Minimum temperatures recorded were:

  • Bhiwani: 3.5°C
  • Karnal: 4.4°C
  • Hisar: 4.6°C
  • Ambala: 6.7°C
  • Gurugram: 7.8°C
  • Rohtak: 6.8°C
  • Narnaul: 6.0°C

The joint capital Chandigarh recorded a minimum temperature of 4.8°C.

Meteorological officials said that the rainfall has led to a temporary fall in temperatures, and residents may continue to feel colder conditions over the next day. Further updates regarding weather patterns are expected from the department.
