Jaipur, Rajasthan: The circumstances surrounding the death of Godip Meena, son of renowned Rajasthani comedian Deepak Meena, popularly known as Panya Sepat, remain under investigation. While preliminary police reports have suggested that mental stress related to unpaid loans may have been a factor, Panya Sepat has strongly denied this and raised suspicions of foul play.
Police Investigation Points to Financial Stress
Godip Meena was found hanging in a hotel room in Jaipur’s Khirni Phatak, Taranagar area about a week ago. Police reports indicated that documents found in his hotel room suggested he had taken a loan, which he allegedly could not repay, leading to stress. During searches, police recovered paperwork from his bag that hinted at financial obligations. According to the authorities, this may have contributed to his decision to take his own life.
Father Denies Debt as Cause
However, Panya Sepat has refuted the notion that his son’s death was due to financial stress. Speaking to the media, he clarified that Godip had taken only a ₹30,000 loan, which he repaid with his father’s help. Godip was also planning to pursue further studies abroad and had sought additional funding, but was unable to secure it due to Panya Sepat’s own credit limitations. The comedian emphatically stated that his son’s death was not related to debt and expressed suspicion that his son may have been murdered.
Incident Details
On the day of the incident, Godip had gone to meet a friend but did not find him. Returning to his hotel, he locked himself in the room. When hotel staff grew concerned and broke the door open, Godip was found hanging. The police are continuing their investigation, treating the case as a potential suicide while keeping all angles under review.
Panya Sepat’s statements and the ongoing inquiry have added complexity to the case, which has already sparked widespread attention in Rajasthan.
