
Lucknow: In a major statewide action, the Food Safety and Drug Administration (FSDA) of Uttar Pradesh conducted a nine-day special enforcement drive to ensure the availability of safe, hygienic, and high-quality food products to the public. Acting on the directives of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the department raided large food manufacturing units, dairy plants, and storage facilities across several districts.
During the intensive operation, authorities seized or destroyed food items worth ₹37.7 lakh, and two FIRs were registered against violators.
Statewide Campaign from November 21 to 29
Under the special drive conducted between November 21 and 29, samples of milk, paneer, ghee, flour, eggs, boondi, edible oil, and other food items were collected. Large quantities of adulterated and unhygienic products were either seized or disposed of on the spot.
According to officials, the FSDA confiscated 794.44 quintals of food materials valued at approximately ₹29 lakh. In addition, 106 quintals of contaminated food items worth ₹8.70 lakh were destroyed during the raids.
The department has issued notices to the violators, directing them to rectify deficiencies. A follow-up inspection will be conducted after the stipulated period. Officials confirmed that such strict monitoring will continue to ensure purity in food products sold in the market.
Raids Conducted in Key Districts
Aligarh
FSDA teams raided Idrees Khan Dairy, Hanif Khan Dairy, Ramesh Chand Dairy and Kuldeep Dairy.
Nine samples were collected, and operations were stopped immediately after adulteration was confirmed.
- 780 kg paneer worth ₹2,18,400 destroyed
- 2,500 litres milk worth ₹1,25,000 destroyed
Ghaziabad
At Shiva Milk Food, officials collected a ghee sample and seized:
- 300 litres of ghee worth ₹2.22 lakh
Moradabad
Raids were conducted at Allah Khan’s egg warehouse.
The warehouse was sealed and operations were halted.
- Coloured eggs and eggs prepared for dyeing worth ₹4 lakh seized
- Paneer, tofu, and milk stocks were destroyed.
Basti
At Gaurav Dairy, 12 samples were collected and an FIR was lodged.
- 326 kg adulterated milk-tofu and paneer worth ₹1,76,200 destroyed
- 1149 kg boondi, refined oil, SMP, and suspicious chemicals worth ₹1.65 lakh seized
Kanpur
At Leela Dairy Chilling Centre, seven samples were taken; serious violations were found and an FIR was filed.
- 7000 litres contaminated milk worth ₹3.5 lakh destroyed
- SMP, whitener and tri-sodium nitrate were seized.
Firozabad
A massive stockpile was found at Brahmlal Traders.
- 78,000 kg flour and white powder worth ₹20 lakh seized
FSDA officials stated that the campaign will continue aggressively to curb adulteration and ensure that only safe and pure food products reach consumers.
