Visiting Jaipur’s Iconic Forts Gets Costlier as Ticket Prices Rise from New Year

Tourists planning to explore Jaipur’s world-famous forts and monuments will have to dig deeper into their pockets from the New Year, as the Rajasthan Archaeology Department has announced a steep hike in entry ticket prices for major heritage sites across the state.

The revised rates, which come into effect from January 1, apply to nearly all prominent monuments in Jaipur, including Amer Fort, Hawa Mahal, Jantar Mantar, Albert Hall Museum, Nahargarh Fort, and Isarlat. The department issued an official notification on Monday detailing the new pricing structure.

Two- to Three-Fold Increase in Ticket Prices

According to the order, ticket prices for both domestic and foreign tourists have been increased by two to three times at several locations. Student concession rates have also been revised upward. The prices of composite tickets, which allow entry to multiple monuments, have seen a significant rise as well.

Officials said the decision was taken after nearly a decade, citing rising costs related to maintenance, security, and infrastructure upgrades at heritage sites.

Composite Ticket Valid for 10 Days

Under the new system, the composite ticket—purchased in a single day—will now remain valid for 10 days, allowing tourists to visit multiple monuments over an extended period. While the validity period has been increased, visitors will have to pay a higher fee compared to earlier rates.

Impact on Tourism

Tourism experts believe the price hike could have a short-term impact during the peak tourist season, especially for budget travelers and student groups. However, the Archaeology Department maintains that improved visitor facilities, better upkeep, and enhanced security will justify the revised rates.

Jaipur, a UNESCO World Heritage City, attracts millions of domestic and international tourists every year. Authorities remain confident that the city’s rich cultural heritage and improved amenities will continue to draw visitors despite the increased entry costs.
