Viral Video Shows Drunk Policeman Mistaking Torch for Liquor Bottle in Jalaun

Jalaun, UP: A video from Jalaun district, Uttar Pradesh, has gone viral on social media, raising serious questions about police conduct. The footage shows a policeman, reportedly under the influence, attempting to drink from a torch, mistaking it for a liquor bottle.

Incident Details

The incident occurred near Babina bus stand in the Kadura police station area, where a dispute broke out between two brothers, Ravikant and Shashikant, over the division of ancestral property. Family members called Dial-112 police for assistance.

Upon receiving the call, PRV vehicle number UP 32 BG 5701 reached the scene. During the intervention, a scuffle broke out between the police and one of the men involved. Priyanka, the wife of one of the men, recorded the incident on her mobile phone, and the video has since gone viral.

Public and Official Reaction

The video’s circulation has raised concerns about law enforcement readiness and accountability. Citizens have questioned how police can maintain law and order if officers responding to a dispute are under the influence.

Kadura Station Officer Prabhat Singh clarified that the police had responded to a disturbance and that the man involved was reportedly drunk and had confronted the officers. He added that the allegations and the viral video are under investigation.
