Motihari, Bihar: In a shocking incident in East Champaran, Bihar, a senior leader of the Vikasheel Insaan Party (VIP) was shot dead by armed assailants. The incident took place on Friday morning in Tinkoni village, under the Darpa police station area.
Brutal Attack During Morning Routine
The victim, Kameshwar Sahani (40), VIP’s Chhodadan block president, was attacked while washing his hands after using the toilet. Three armed men on two motorcycles opened fire on him, fatally wounding him on the spot. Empty bullet shells were recovered from the scene by the police.
Victim’s Criminal Background
Police officials, including Raxaul DSP Manish Anand, reached the site immediately and launched a detailed investigation with the help of a dog squad. Reports indicate that Sahani had a criminal record and had been involved in several cases, including links to former Naxalite activities. The police are investigating all possible motives behind the murder.
Political Context and Party Shock
The murder comes at a politically sensitive time. In the recent Bihar elections, the VIP party suffered a crushing defeat, failing to secure a single seat. Party chief Mukesh Sahani, once considered a contender for the Deputy Chief Minister post, could not gain public support. Sahani’s murder has plunged the party into further shock and concern.
Investigation Underway
Following the attack, panic spread through Tinkoni village and surrounding areas. SDPO Manish Anand confirmed that intensive raids have begun to apprehend the culprits. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed to probe the incident thoroughly.
