Vigilance Bureau’s Double Crackdown: Two Revenue Employees Arrested for Bribery in Nalanda and Nawada

Patna: In a major anti-corruption operation, separate teams of the Bihar Vigilance Investigation Bureau arrested two revenue employees red-handed while accepting bribes in Nalanda and Nawada districts on Tuesday.

According to bureau officials, Akhilesh Sah, a revenue employee posted at the Rajgir circle office in Nalanda district, was caught accepting a bribe of ₹45,000 near Leduwa bridge on Chhabilapur Road. The arrest followed a complaint filed by Rajiv Kumar, a resident of Ratna village in Chhabilapur, who alleged that Sah had demanded money in exchange for land mutation work.

The bureau verified the complaint and found evidence supporting the bribery charge. After confirming the allegations, an FIR was registered and a trap team was formed under the leadership of Deputy Superintendent of Police Akhilesh Kumar. The accused was apprehended at the pre-arranged time while taking the bribe.

In a separate operation, the bureau’s headquarters team arrested another revenue employee, Gulshan Kumar, posted in Roh circle of Nawada district, while accepting ₹35,000 as a bribe. The complaint was lodged by Mantu Kumar, a resident of Beldih village, who alleged that the accused demanded money for processing land-related work.

Acting on the complaint, a trap team led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Vikas Kumar Srivastava was constituted. The team arrested Gulshan Kumar from the Sitapur Banshichak turn under Roh police station limits while he was receiving the bribe. Officials said he is currently being interrogated.

The back-to-back arrests come despite repeated warnings from Bihar Deputy Chief Minister and Revenue and Land Reforms Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha, who has urged officials to maintain transparency and refrain from corrupt practices. The bureau has reiterated its commitment to strict action against graft in government offices.
