New Delhi: A tragic accident late Saturday night in Vasant Kunj North has left a family shattered after a Mercedes SUV struck three people, killing Rohit (23) on the spot. Rohit, a chef at a restaurant inside Ambience Mall, was the sole earning member of his family and had been saving to open his own restaurant.
Victim Was Family’s Only Support
Rohit’s family, originally from Chamoli, Uttarakhand, expressed deep grief over losing their only hope for a better future. “He was our only support. Even that has been taken away from us,” said a relative. Rohit earned around ₹15,000 per month and consistently sent most of his earnings home to support his parents and siblings.

According to police, the incident occurred early Sunday on Nelson Mandela Marg near Ambience Mall. Rohit and two colleagues were waiting for a vehicle after completing their restaurant shift when the speeding Mercedes SUV hit them. While Rohit died on the spot, the other two victims—Kapil and Lalit—sustained serious injuries and are currently undergoing treatment, with Kapil in critical condition in the ICU.
Family Mourns Loss
Rohit’s relatives described him as a calm, humble, and responsible individual who never raised his voice. “Since he was 20, he has been supporting our family. Losing him has left us completely broken,” said relative Balwant Singh, struggling to hold back tears. The family said the accident has not only destroyed their dreams but also left them unsure how to manage without him.
Police have confirmed that Rohit’s body will be handed over to his family following post-mortem procedures. Investigations into the accident are ongoing, and authorities are looking into the circumstances of the SUV’s involvement.
