V

The makers of Border 2 have dropped a major surprise for fans — the first look of Varun Dhawan from the highly anticipated war drama has been officially revealed. After the powerful first look of Sunny Deol, this new poster featuring Varun has taken the internet by storm. The film, a sequel to the 1997 blockbuster Border, is set to release on January 23, 2026, nearly 28 years after the original classic.

Sharing his look on social media, Varun Dhawan wrote, “Desh ka sipahi — PVC Hoshiar Singh Dahiya.” The actor’s intense expression, military uniform, and battlefield backdrop perfectly capture the spirit of patriotism and valor. In the poster, Varun can be seen holding a rifle amidst chaos, surrounded by fellow soldiers — some fighting fiercely, others injured — with determination blazing in his eyes.

Fans and Bollywood React

The post instantly went viral, drawing immense appreciation from fans and celebrities alike. Filmmaker Karan Johar reacted with a “fire” emoji, while fans flooded the comments section with messages like “Mass!”, “So proud of you!”, and “Can’t wait for Border 2!”

The film’s theme — the spirit of sacrifice and courage of Indian soldiers — has struck a chord with audiences even before its release.

About the Film

Border 2 is directed by Anurag Singh and produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, JP Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta under the T-Series and JP Films banner. The ensemble cast includes Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, Ahan Shetty, Medha Rana, Mona Singh, and Sonam Bajwa.

The movie is slated for release just four days before Republic Day, symbolically aligning with India’s patriotic spirit.

Earlier, Sunny Deol had shared his own powerful first look from the film with the caption, “Hindustan ke liye ladenge… phir ek baar!” (We will fight for India… once again!).

Flashback to the 1997 Classic

The original Border (1997), directed by JP Dutta, was based on the real-life Battle of Longewala fought during the India–Pakistan War of 1971. The film featured a legendary ensemble cast including Sunny Deol, Jackie Shroff, Suniel Shetty, Akshaye Khanna, Puneet Issar, Sudesh Berry, and Kulbhushan Kharbanda, with Tabu, Pooja Bhatt, Raakhee Gulzar, Sharbani Mukherjee, and Sapna Bedi in pivotal roles.

The film became a cultural landmark, remembered for its emotional depth, iconic dialogues, and unforgettable music — and Border 2 promises to carry that legacy forward for a new generation.
