Vande Bharat Train Halted in Haryana After Nut-Bolt Gets Stuck Under Wheels

Sonipat, Haryana: A major rail accident was narrowly averted on Saturday when the Vande Bharat Express, traveling from Amritsar to Old Delhi, was forced to stop due to a technical issue. The train was safely halted at Sonipat railway station for about an hour as a precautionary measure. The incident occurred near Sandal Kalan railway station.

A metal nut-bolt attached to the railway track became lodged under one of the train’s wheels, causing unusual noises. Recognizing the potential risk, the driver immediately slowed the train and ensured it reached Sonipat station safely.

Railway Track Impacted, Investigation Underway

Upon halting the train, both the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and the local GRP police were notified. Teams promptly arrived at the scene and, alongside railway officials, began a detailed investigation. A thorough technical inspection of the Vande Bharat Express was conducted to ensure that no significant damage had occurred.

Train Operations Restored After Safety Checks

For safety reasons, traffic on the affected track was temporarily suspended, while other trains were diverted to loop lines to minimize inconvenience to passengers. After approximately an hour of inspection and corrective action, railway officials declared the track safe, and the Vande Bharat Express resumed its journey toward Delhi.

The railway administration credited the driver’s alertness and timely action for preventing what could have been a serious accident. Officials emphasized that regular inspections of tracks and trains will continue to ensure passenger safety.
