Vande Bharat Sleeper to Replace Rajdhani Express: Patna-Delhi Semi High-Speed Train to Hit Tracks by June

Patna: Travelers between Patna and Delhi have a major reason to celebrate. By June, the much-anticipated Sleeper Vande Bharat Express will commence operations on this route, offering a modern and semi high-speed alternative to the traditional Rajdhani Express. Developed under the “Make in India” initiative, this train will combine world-class facilities with advanced safety features, including the indigenous Kavach anti-collision system.

Semi High-Speed, Rapid Acceleration
The Sleeper Vande Bharat will run at a top speed of 180 km/h, transforming long-distance rail travel between Bihar and the national capital. Remarkably, the train can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 52 seconds. Advanced suspension technology and noise reduction mechanisms will allow passengers to enjoy a peaceful sleep even at high speeds.

823 Berths Across 16 Coaches
The train will consist of 16 modern coaches with a total capacity of 823 berths. Passenger comfort is prioritized with:

  • 11 Third AC coaches (611 berths)
  • 4 Second AC coaches (188 berths)
  • 1 First AC coach (24 berths)

In addition, passengers will have access to quality meals and local cuisine on board, catering to varied tastes and preferences.

State-of-the-Art Safety and Comfort
The Sleeper Vande Bharat will feature several advanced safety systems, including:

  • Kavach anti-collision technology
  • Automatic doors and emergency talk-back system
  • Ergonomically designed berths to reduce fatigue
  • Special disinfection and hygiene technologies for cleanliness
  • A high-tech driver cabin with advanced control systems

This semi high-speed sleeper train is expected to become a premium, modern alternative to the Rajdhani Express, offering a faster, safer, and more comfortable travel experience for passengers on the Patna–Delhi route.
