Dehradun, Uttarakhand: The weather in Uttarakhand is expected to remain generally clear today. However, some low-lying areas may experience light fog in the mornings and evenings. Snowfall in the hilly regions, particularly around Badrinath and Kedarnath, has caused a drop in temperatures, affecting surrounding areas as well.
Snowfall Creates Scenic Views
The high-altitude regions of Uttarakhand, including several locations in Chamoli district and the Badrinath and Kedarnath temples, witnessed snowfall, creating a mesmerizing winter landscape. In some areas, snow accumulation reached up to 6 inches. Pilgrims visiting these sacred sites were left awestruck by the picturesque snow-covered peaks, though the cold is causing some discomfort. To provide relief, bonfires have been lit at multiple spots in Badrinath for devotees.
Plains to See Mild Fog, Temperatures Drop
The plains, including Dehradun, are expected to see clear skies, with light fog possible during early mornings and evenings. Today, Dehradun is forecasted to have a maximum temperature of 28°C and a minimum of 14°C. Experts warn that further drops in temperature could intensify the chill across the state.
Health Advisory for Children
The fluctuation between day and night temperatures has resulted in a rise in cold, cough, and fever cases among children. The pediatric outpatient department at Government Doon Medical College has reported over 150 children visiting for treatment. Doctors advise parents to take precautions and ensure children are adequately protected from the cold.
