
Dehradun, Uttarakhand: In the wake of the car explosion near Red Fort in Delhi, Uttarakhand has been placed on high alert, with police intensifying security along international and inter-state borders, sensitive locations, religious sites, markets, bus stations, railway stations, and other crowded areas. Security checks have been ongoing round-the-clock.
Chief Minister’s Statement: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed deep sorrow over the Delhi blast, conveying condolences to the victims and their families. He described the incident as highly disturbing and instructed the Director General of Police (DGP) to maintain heightened vigilance across the state, with special monitoring along all borders. He emphasized that the safety of citizens is the government’s top priority and warned that negligence will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
Police Directives: DGP Deepam Seth ordered all district heads and police officers to increase patrolling and security checks, promptly report any suspicious activity, and continuously monitor social media. Specialized units, including Cheetah Mobile Units, patrol cars, bomb disposal squads, and dog squads, have been deployed across all districts for thorough inspections of sensitive locations. The state police control room is monitoring all operations in real time.
District-Level Actions:
- Dehradun: SSP Ajay Singh confirmed that extensive checks are being carried out across the district, with all vehicles and individuals being thoroughly screened at major checkpoints.
- Haridwar: SSP Pramendra Dobhal led intensive checking at railway and bus stations, providing instructions to subordinate officers.
- Champawat: SP Ajay Ganpati is overseeing the security checks, urging residents to report any suspicious person, vehicle, or activity immediately.
- Rudraprayag: SP Akshay Konde confirmed heightened surveillance, instructing all sub-divisional officers, station heads, and police teams to conduct rigorous checks while remaining in constant contact with the police control room.
Other districts including Uttarkashi, Tehri, Chamoli, Nainital, and Pithoragarh are also witnessing intensified checking campaigns due to the high alert.
Public Advisory: The DGP has appealed to residents to remain calm, avoid spreading rumors, and report any suspicious activity immediately to the nearest police station or via dial 112.
