Sukhoi Fighter Jet Makes Emergency Landing at Dehradun Airport After Engine Oil Leak

Dehradun: A Sukhoi fighter jet was forced to make an emergency landing at Jolly Grant Airport, Dehradun, on Monday due to a technical malfunction. The aircraft had taken off from Bareilly earlier that morning when an oil leak from one of its engines was detected mid-air. Demonstrating quick thinking, the pilot safely landed the jet at the airport, avoiding any potential disaster.

Airport and Safety Measures: Airport Director Bhupesh C.H. Negi confirmed that the landing was necessitated by the technical issue and assured that repair work has begun. Airport personnel promptly activated emergency protocols, ensuring the situation was handled without incident. The aircraft has been stationed safely near the VIP guest house at the airport for inspection and maintenance.

Engineering Team on Site: A team of engineers from Bareilly arrived at Dehradun Airport to assess and fix the technical fault, which was critical to ensuring the jet’s operational safety.

Previous Sukhoi Exercises: Sukhoi aircraft had previously conducted training exercises at Dehradun Airport in April 2018, which were part of the Indian Air Force’s operational readiness programs. These exercises had drawn considerable public attention at the time.

The swift response by the pilot and airport authorities ensured that the incident remained contained and risk-free, highlighting both aviation safety and preparedness at regional airports.
