
Mussoorie/Dehradun: A horrifying road accident on the Mussoorie-Dehradun route claimed the life of a father while leaving his 14-year-old son critically injured. The duo, who were en route to Mussoorie for painting work, lost control of their bike, which slipped off the road and fell into a 300-meter deep ravine near Galogi. The incident sent shockwaves through the local community.
Accident Details
According to Mussoorie Kotwal Devendra Chauhan, the bike, a Bajaj Platina (UK07-AB-7926), was traveling towards Mussoorie when it skidded near an area under recent roadside construction. The father, Aswak Ahmed (40), son of Farooq Ahmed, a resident of Raipur Adhovala, Jain Plot, Dehradun, died on the spot. His son, Faizan Ahmed (14), fell off the bike but was trapped on the hillside. Local residents and police personnel managed to rescue him and rushed him to the hospital for treatment.
Rescue Operations
The Kolukhet police station and Rajpur police team, along with Mussoorie Fire Service and SDRF Dehradun, reached the accident site immediately. The teams conducted a difficult rescue operation to retrieve the bike and the deceased from the deep ravine.
Safety Concerns Raised
Locals reported that ongoing construction along the Galogi stretch has left several safety walls incomplete, creating serious hazards for commuters. Residents have urged authorities to install safety barriers and warning boards immediately to prevent future accidents.
The Mussoorie police have registered a case, taken the deceased into custody, and launched further investigation into the incident.
