
Uttarakhand continues to experience cold weather due to ongoing rainfall and snowfall. Today, light to moderate rain and snowfall are expected in six districts of the state, with temperatures likely to drop in higher-altitude areas.
According to the Meteorological Department, light to moderate rain is forecast in Dehradun, Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar, and Pithoragarh. Snowfall is expected in areas above 3,000 meters. Other regions may see scattered light rain, while the hilly terrain is likely to experience a partial drop in temperature due to the changing weather pattern.
Chilly Mornings and Evenings:
Plains are experiencing relatively warmer daytime temperatures due to sunshine, but mornings and evenings remain cold. In the hills, light rain and snow are keeping the chill intact.
Temperature Update:
In Dehradun and several other districts, maximum temperatures have risen 4–5°C above normal. The recent rain and snowfall have provided relief to locals and farmers, particularly apple orchard owners, who have benefited from the fresh snow cover.
January Rainfall Above Average:
Meteorologists report that January rainfall across the state was approximately 3% above normal. Snow accumulation in Auli has attracted tourists and adventure enthusiasts.
Auli Records Minus 5°C:
Auli has recorded temperatures as low as –5°C. With ample snow on the southern slopes, the Tourism Department plans to host the National Games along with a winter carnival in the second week of February. Exact dates will be announced soon.
