Uttarakhand Weather Today: IMD Issues Alert for Rain and Snow

Dehradun, Uttarakhand: The weather in Uttarakhand is witnessing a drop in temperatures as rainfall and snowfall continue across the state. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued warnings for further precipitation in the coming hours.

Weather Forecast for Uttarakhand – 31 January 2026
According to meteorologists, the plains of Uttarakhand, including Dehradun, are expected to remain dry today. However, light rainfall and snowfall are likely in the hilly regions. A fresh western disturbance is expected to become active on Sunday, potentially bringing rain and snow to the mountainous areas.

While Dehradun and nearby regions are enjoying bright sunshine during the day, the mornings and evenings remain chilly. Cold winds in the hilly areas are contributing to a sharp drop in temperatures, following recent rainfall and snowfall.

In Chamoli district, the popular tourist destination of Auli continues to attract visitors despite the freezing conditions. A thick layer of snow has formed over the artificial lake in Auli, delighting tourists. Local tourism businesses have also welcomed the snowfall, which has increased tourist footfall. Earlier, bookings were being canceled due to lack of snow, but now, visitors are returning, and new reservations are being made.

Temperature Details:

  • Dehradun: Max 24.8°C | Min 9.2°C
  • Udham Singh Nagar: Max 17.4°C | Min 7.0°C

With the activation of a fresh western disturbance on Sunday, moderate rainfall is expected in Dehradun, Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, and Pithoragarh.
