Uttarakhand CM Flags Off 240 Topper Students for Educational Bharat Darshan Tour

Dehradun’s SCERT campus at Nanur Kheda witnessed a proud moment on Monday as Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami flagged off a group of 240 meritorious students for an extensive Bharat Darshan Educational Tour. The initiative aims to offer the state’s top-performing Class 10 students a firsthand experience of India’s scientific achievements, cultural heritage, technological progress, and historical legacy.

This year’s tour marks an expansion of the initiative, which began in 2024–25 with 156 students.

Students to Visit India’s Premier Space and Research Centres

Under this programme, the selected students will visit some of India’s most prestigious scientific and space institutions, including:

  • ISRO’s Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota
  • U.R. Rao Satellite Centre, Bengaluru
  • Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre
  • Other national-level research and innovation hubs

CM Dhami said the visits will inspire students and boost their understanding of how rapidly India is advancing in science and technology.

CM Dhami: “Direct Experience Enhances Vision and Learning”

Addressing the students, the Chief Minister said:

“Education from books is important, but direct experience enhances understanding many times over. This tour will help build teamwork, social skills, and confidence while offering insights that will last a lifetime.”

He encouraged students to document their entire journey:

  • Each student must write their daily experiences in a travel diary.
  • After the tour, two best diaries from each district will be selected and rewarded.

Dhami also urged the students to note innovations and achievements happening for the first time in Uttarakhand.

Students Will Serve as Cultural Ambassadors

Calling the participants “future brand ambassadors of Uttarakhand,” the Chief Minister said the students will have the opportunity to represent the state’s:

  • rich culture
  • natural beauty
  • cuisine
  • tourism potential

He motivated them to dream big and stay resilient:

“Challenges will come, but learning from them and moving forward will bring success.”

Education Minister: Record Participation in Vande Mataram Singing

Education Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat, present at the event, highlighted the government’s recent educational initiatives.
He shared that on Constitution Day this year, 21 lakh students from 23,000 schools participated in the Vande Mataram singing event, celebrating 150 years of the national song.

He also announced that:

  • From next year, 1,000 topper students will be sent for the educational tour under the Chief Minister’s directions.
