An extraordinary spiritual meeting took place on Wednesday at Shrihit Radha Keli Kunj, Vrindavan, where two revered Rasik saints — Premanand Maharaj and Radha Mohan Das Bhaktamali Maharaj, popularly known as Rangili Sakhi Maharaj — engaged in a deeply spiritual discussion that captivated devotees and ascetics alike.
Due to his advanced age, Rangili Sakhi Maharaj was granted special permission to sit on a chair beside Premanand Maharaj, a rare gesture that soon became the center of attention in Vrindavan’s spiritual circles. The two saints spoke extensively about devotion to Shri Radha Rani (Shri Ji), unity among saints, and the eternal path of divine love.
A Saint Immersed in the ‘Sakhi Bhav’ Tradition
Rangili Sakhi Maharaj is a highly revered figure in the Rasik tradition of Radha-Krishna devotion. Known for his pure and intimate ‘Sakhi Bhav’ (the devotional sentiment of serving Lord Krishna through the mood of Radha’s companion), he considers himself a maidservant of Shri Radha Rani.
His discourses are filled with devotional songs, Krishna leela narrations, and bhakti poetry, which transport listeners into the divine mood of Braj. Among Rasik devotees, he is affectionately called ‘Shri Rangili Sakhi’, symbolizing his spiritual identity rooted in sweetness, humility, and surrender.
A Dialogue Filled with Devotion and Wisdom
During the satsang, Rangili Sakhi Maharaj urged everyone to maintain unwavering faith in the lotus feet of Shri Ji, to which Premanand Maharaj humbly replied,
“All other paths are now closed — only one path remains open, and that leads to Shri Ji alone.”
The saints also discussed sectarian divides within the spiritual community, emphasizing unity. Rangili Sakhi Maharaj advised that no discrimination should exist among the four major Vaishnav traditions, while Premanand Maharaj addressed the growing issue of isolation among saints, saying,
“If we improve ourselves, the world will improve. Let us first become instruments of Bhagavat Bhavana (divine compassion).”
‘Premanand Maharaj is the Companion of Priya Ji’
In a moment of divine humility, Rangili Sakhi Maharaj described Premanand Maharaj as the spiritual companion of Priya Ji (Radha Rani), saying that she is uplifting all souls through him. He compared himself to a drop and Premanand Maharaj to the vast ocean of divine love.
The gathering reflected the spiritual grandeur of Vrindavan, where saints continue to inspire society through their message of love, unity, and devotion — reminding all that true spirituality lies not in rituals, but in heartfelt surrender to Shri Radha and Krishna.
